There’s something truly magical about a sunrise beach maternity session… the quiet stillness of the morning, the golden light spilling across the waves, and the sense of new beginnings in the air. This beautiful session with Steve and Aimee at Cherry Grove Beach was everything I love about living by the ocean.

A Golden Morning by the Sea

We started the session about fifteen minutes before the sun rose over the horizon, with just a hint of fog in the distance. At first, we weren’t sure whether the sun would peek through, but when it did, the light was absolutely divine. The sky filled with pink and orange hues, wrapping the beach in a warm glow that made every moment feel dreamy and ethereal. The temperature was perfect—not too warm, not too cool—and the only sound was the soft rhythm of the waves behind us.

Their Story

Steve and Aimee have been together for almost fifteen years, and this session celebrated their first baby together—the start of their “new beginning,” as they described it. The love and comfort between them was effortless. You could tell they’ve spent years growing side by side, yet their connection still feels fresh and full of tenderness.

Before the session, I asked them a few questions to capture their story in their own words. When I asked what they love most about each other, both mentioned each other’s eyes—proof that even after all these years, they still see each other with the same adoration. They also shared that one of their favorite things to do together is exploring nature and taking long walks, soaking in every little detail of the world around them. That same peaceful appreciation for life was so present during their session.

Dreamy, Romantic, and Serene

Aimee wore a soft, flowy cream dress that caught the morning light beautifully, while Steve complemented her in neutral tones. I gave them some light direction but focused on movement and connection rather than stiff posing. One of my favorite moments was when they stood forehead to forehead, hands resting over her baby bump, with the sun bursting out behind them. It perfectly captured their deep love and anticipation for this next chapter.
