Joshua + Annie’s fall engagement session at Garrard Landing Park was absolutely dreamy! We went right at golden hour, just before sunset, and the lighting was so perfect.
They met through an online dating app (Bumble) and their first date was at a Mexican restaurant (fun fact—my husband + I’s “first date” was at a Mexican restaurant as well—which is a really funny story I’ll have to share some day)!
Their first date was a hit + Annie said that one of the things she loved about Joshua right away was that he is so funny—cracking jokes from the very start. Two weeks later, Joshua asked her to be his girlfriend! Shortly thereafter, Joshua was picked up to play baseball for Shorter University so they ended up having to do long distance for the first year of their relationship.
Despite the distance, however, the relationship felt pretty serious early on—Annie shared that they both said, “I love you” to each other within the first month! Fast forward to September 2023… they were both ready to make the next step in their relationship + joked about buying a cheap Walmart ring just so they could get engaged.
Around that time, Joshua got a new job and said he wanted to go out to celebrate. He got a new hair cut + new clothes and then offered to pay for Annie to get her nails done. Joshua took her to the Melting Pot and Annie said she could tell he was visibly nervous during dinner. Joshua is a huge Auburn fan and claimed he was just nervous about the Auburn game—hah!
During dinner, he excused himself to go to the bathroom, but actually went out to the car and stuck the ring in his sock before coming back to the table. After dinner, they decided to go on a walk + Joshua took her to a really cute area near the water. Annie said at one point she heard him stop walking, so she turned around to see why he had stopped + he was down on one knee! “You didn’t think I’d have a real ring by now, did you?” he said, holding up a gorgeous ring.
We had so much fun during their engagement session. There was so much laughter + I really love how the photos we captured really reflect their relationship + personalities. I think it is so important to capture such a momentous part of a relationship, which is why all of my wedding collections include a complimentary engagement session.
